Wednesday, December 20, 2017

From Friday 6 July to Sunday 8 July 2018, the World Cup for cyclists with for athletes with a disability, also known as para-cycling, is organized in Emmen. Last year this World Cup event was organized for the first time in Emmen. These World Cup competitions are the prelude to the world championships para-cycling that will take place in Emmen in 2019. The World Championships are organized in the pre-paralympic year and therefore the event is the most important qualification opportunity for the Paralympic Games in Tokyo in 2020.

Last summer the Dutch cyclists achieved great successes in Emmen, Daniel Gebru, Tim de Vries and Jetze Plat were the big winners. In the time trial, Gebru (cycling class C5) and handbikers Plat (class H4) and De Vries (class H5) took the victories in the time trial and in the individual road race. Also in 2018 the iconic cycling track and the Rondweg route for the different races of the World Cup.
