For many cyclists the UCI Para-cycling World Cup is not only an excellent preparation for the world championships in 2019, but also a final test towards the world championships this year, from 2 to 5 August in the Italian city Maniago. Therefore a large and strong field of competitors will start in Emmen. The participants of the UCI Para-cycling World Cup literally come from all corners of the world. In total 337 athletes from 37 different countries are on the official list of participants. Host country the Netherlands is with 37 participants the country with most athletes at the start, but the United States (29) and Germany (27) are also strongly represented in Emmen.

Course and time schedule
The course of the UCI Para-cycling World Cup is largely the same as the edition of 2017. The course has long straights, but also several technical turns. The routes of the UCI Para-cycling World Cup are 8.0 kilometers (Time Trial), 6.3 kilometers (Road Race) and 1.9 kilometers (Team Relay). The number of rounds differs per category. The Para-cycling on the road competitions comprise four classes of handicaps: blind and visually impaired, cerebal palsy, locomotor handicaps and hand cyclists.
The athletes compete in classes and divisions depending of the type of bicycle they use.
• C: Cyclist: regular bike
• H: Handbike
• B – Blind: tandem
• T – Tricycle
The UCI Para-cycling World Cup starts on Friday 6 July with the time trials, on Saturday and Sunday the road races will take place. After the tricycles, handbikes and tandems the day ends with the cycling classes. On Sunday, the team relay is on the program as well.
